Deborah Cleary

Senior Consultant

Deborah Cleary is a senior consultant at culture-shaping firm Senn Delaney, a Heidrick & Struggles company. She brings to her client work a unique perspective on coaching, developing, engaging and inspiring people and organizations honed from diverse experience in leadership and facilitation roles in several industries: banking, healthcare manufacturing and telecommunications.

Deborah joined Senn Delaney in 2014 as a senior consultant after experiencing first-hand the success and value of rolling out culture-shaping initiatives in two different organizations.

At Key Bank, she developed a solid foundation in retail banking and operations management. Shifting the company to a sales-oriented culture presented unique challenges, and Deborah utilized leadership and influencing skills to guide her teams. When she joined the training department, Deborah discovered a passion for facilitation and learning that has been her focus ever since. In leading the Western Region training team, she experienced the joy of coaching and developing facilitators. As VP of Leadership and Organizational Development, she was introduced to culture shaping through Senn Delaney. Deborah became a certified facilitator of the culture transformation process and supported the rollout of culture-shaping experiential learning sessions company-wide, including coaching 40 facilitators and delivering more than 100 of the sessions at all employee levels.

Deborah developed a major respect for healthcare manufacturing after joining CareFusion (formerly Cardinal Health) as a senior consultant.  She again worked with Senn Delaney to help orchestrate global, company-wide culture offsite learning sessions.  She became a certified master coach for the sessions and coached 30 facilitators globally, coaching and facilitating in Europe, Mexico and parts of Asia.

Working with Clearwire as a learning consultant in the telecommunications industry, Deborah drew on her years of culture-shaping expertise to enable her to support employees, managers and executives when the company was acquired by Sprint Corporation in 2013.

Deborah has also earned certifications in Situational Leadership I and II©, Achieve Global Master Coach and Leadership for Results. She is experienced with DiSC and Meyers-Briggs psychometric evaluation, and has designed and delivered courses in change management, leadership development, customer service and sales.

Debbie lives in Tacoma, Washington, with her forever friend and husband, Matt. Her daughter, Lauren, is her greatest accomplishment and best teacher. A life-long learner, Deborah believes there are lessons in every experience. She loves the outdoors, the arts, family, good books, great coffee and wine, food that someone else cooks, and hearing other people’s stories.
