"I have a real passion for passing on knowledge to others, helping them to learn, understand and increase their knowledge. I get immense satisfaction from seeing that ‘light bulb' moment, when a person grasps a concept and realizes what a powerful difference it will make to them."

Chris Hurley

Senior Consultant

Based in London, Chris Hurley is a senior consultant at culture-shaping firm Senn Delaney, a Heidrick & Struggles company. He brings more than 21 years of management experience at a number of levels, ranging from small teams to multinational teams spread throughout Europe and beyond.

Chris has an extensive background in the insurance industry, which includes helping to set up and run the claims department of Admiral Insurance, one of the UK’s most successful direct insurers, in 1993. There, he helped grow the department from an initial staff of 3 to a thriving staff of more than 300.

Immediately prior to joining the Senn Delaney, Chris spent 16 years at Hertz Car Rental, one of the world’s largest car rental companies. He managed operations, and training and mentoring staff across Europe.

Chris first participated in the Senn Delany culture-shaping process as a participant at Hertz. He immediately realized what a powerful tool this was for changing and improving both business and personal life.  Shaping culture to create healthy, high performance fast became a passion and Chris became a certified Senn Delaney facilitator, engaging more than 700 Hertz staff in the culture-shaping program.

Chris has a variety of leadership and coaching experience across a wide number of areas, both inside the traditional business world and in more unusual dynamic environments. He developed his coaching and mentoring style over a number of years, and enjoys passing knowledge on to others and seeing their confidence, skills and self-awareness grow.

Chris lives in London with his wife and two children. In his leisure time, he is the Operations Director for SARAID, a volunteer earthquake search and rescue team. He is also a qualified powerboat coxswain and paddle sports coach and loves being in, on or under the water.

He works with scouts, girl guides and other youth groups coaching kayaking, canoeing, SUPs and dragon boating, and recently hand-built his own coracle (a traditional Welsh fishing craft).
