Brian Klapper


Brian Klapper is a principal at culture-shaping firm Senn Delaney, a Heidrick & Struggles company. Brian has worked in a variety of sectors, including financial services, consumer products, manufacturing, food service, utilities, retail, and healthcare.


With decades of experience, Brian helps clients to create a culture of operational innovation and execution excellence through a proven process he developed as president and founding partner of The Klapper Institute in collaboration with the MIT Media Lab. The process is a catalyst for driving rapid transformational change and helping people to think dramatically differently.


Prior to founding The Klapper Institute, Brian served as president of The Tatham Group, a boutique strategy implementation firm. Before that, he was a partner in the financial services practice of Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman and formerly Strategic Planning Associates). His C-suite clients have included, among others: Goldman Sachs, Avon Products, Bank of America, Bassett Furniture, Northeast Utilities, New York Life, Hartford Financial, KFC (Canada), Edward Jones, Progress Software and the City of Barrie, ON.  


Brian is a recognized thought leader, speaker and writer. His book, The Q-Loop: The Art and Science of Lasting Corporate Change, was nominated for the 2013 Financial Times and Goldman Sachs Business Book of the Year Award. He co-authored a chapter in Redesigning Healthcare Delivery, “Applying Performance Engineering to Medical Care,” which has become an industry standard.


He has been a guest speaker at the New York Life Executive Leadership Series, the featured keynote speaker at LIMRA conferences, the Chief Learning Officer Conference and the Avon Worldwide Management Forum, and has participated in the Authors@Google series discussing how creativity and ideation contribute to transformational change.


He has been profiled in several publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Barron’s, Forbes, Business Week, Investors Business Daily, The Toronto Sun Times, CEO Magazine, and The New York Times. Brian has also contributed thought leadership to Chief Learning Officer Magazine and The Harvard Business Review.


Brian holds an MBA from The Wharton Graduate School of Business and a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.
